Aamir Shuts Down ‘Love Jihad Brand Ambassador’ Trolls

Aamir Khan, who recently got married for the third time, finds himself being accused of being a ‘brand ambassador’ for ‘love jihad.’ But the actor refutes the charge with customary equanimity.

Speaking to DC, Aamir, who was first married to Reena Dutta, and later to Kiran Rao, before he and Gauri Spratt became husband and wife earlier this month, said, “Well, the truth is that ours is a very inclusive family.” Going on to back that statement, he said, “Both my sisters are married to Hindus, and my daughter too is married to a Hindu. My cousin Mansoor is married to a Christian. Gauri, Reena and Kiran did not change their religions when they married me, as we had civil marriages. Gauri is not a Hindu, she is Christian, and not even a practising Christian at that. Life is getting more comical as time passes.”

The actor also gave a clarification regarding widespread reports that he is developing a Rs 100 crore multi-generational Skyvilla in Mumbai’s upscale Pali Hill, Bandra West. “Our apartment complex is going in for redevelopment, like the rest of Bombay. It is a decision taken by our Housing Society, which has 24 members, including me. It also involves a builder who has bought, and therefore owns, the bulk of the building.”
