Judy Murray walks down memory lane
Judy Murray has opened up the family album and shared photographs of her two sons when they were children after both of them became tennis World No1s. Andy Murray, 29, ended a remarkable year with victory in the ATP World Tour finals to confirm his place as the number one men’s tennis player on the planet.
The Brit beat rival Novak Djokovic, 29, in straight sets at the O2 in London to ensure he will finish the season on top in the men’s rankings. He’s now won an incredible 24 matches in a row, to go along with victory at Wimbledon last summer and a Gold medal in the Olympics. Judy has been expressing her pride on Twitter this morning by posting a newspaper snippet of Andy’s first notable win as a six-year-old. The youngster started a career that was destined for the history books by setting a new record, becoming the youngest player to ever win a match in a Scottish ranking tournament. On the other side of the court from Murray was 11-year-old Ryan Openshaw, who was significantly older than his opponent.
Openshaw, who is now a solicitor in Aberdeen, has found himself surprisingly thrust into the limelight and inundated with interview requests thanks to Judy Murray’s stroll down memory lane.
