Sania's No 1 on Twitter too
Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar got into a Twitter spat with Tennis star Sania Mirza on Wednesday over Mirza completing 80 consecutive weeks as the No 1 doubles player in the world.
Mirza took to Twitter to share her joy with fans and friends. She wrote, “Today I complete 80 consecutive weeks as the number 1 player in d world??its been an amazing journey and just inspires me to work harder @WTA (sic)”.
While many congratulated Mirza, Manjrekar reminded her that the rankings were for the doubles category. A fired up Mirza replied to Manjrekar with a link to an article from the Women’s Tennis Association website, that backed her wording.
Manjrekar decided to end the spat, saying: “Yes, the article also says No. 1 doubles player in the world. Said what I had to, will leave all balls outside the off stump alone now ?????? (sic)”.
However, most Twitter users, sided with Sania and trolled the cricketer. One user (@Sachinkhurana06) wrote: “dude thats all u did whn u played also. Left everything & scored nothing Most irritating batsman and comentator (sic)”.
