Andy Murray hits gym after hip surgery

The two-time Wimbledon winner was operated in Melbourne, forcing him to miss the Australian Open starting on Monday.

British tennis star Andy Murray is determined to be fit quickly, hitting the gym with a vengeance, after his recent hip surgery which threatened to have halt his career. The two-time Wimbledon winner was operated in Melbourne, forcing him to miss the Australian Open starting on Monday, hoping to get back to peak condition for the rest of the season, according to the Daily Mail.

Murray gave a glimpse of progress to his fans, taking to social media to upload a video of one of his first rehabilitation training sessions. The 30-year-old looked fit as he undertook a series of exercises, including both cardiovascular and weight-based training. He captioned the video: “Rehab day 1”.

Murray has not played a competitive match since he was knocked out of Wimbledon in July. He was troubled by persistent niggling injuries, forcing him to go under the knife in the hope of getting a permanent solution to his troubles. The Scot hopes to pick up from where he left once he returns to action. “I’m not finished playing tennis yet. I’m going to be competing at the highest level again,” Murray told the BBC recently.
