New Delhi: Seeded men’s players continued to tumble at the National Tennis Championship with Delhi lad Kunal Anand packing third seed V.M. Ranjeet in the quarterfinals of the Fenesta Open here on Thursday. The 24-year-old Anand erased a one-set deficit to knock the former champion 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 wins in humid conditions at DLTA Complex. He now runs into top seed and favourite Vishnu Vardhan, who dumped Dalwinder Singh 6-2, 6-4.
Haadin Bava also entered the men’s singles semi-finals by defeating Jayesh Pungaliya 7-5, 6-2. Haadin next faces Siddharth Vishwkarma, who ended the impressive run of Tejas Chaukulkar 7-5 6-4. Meanwhile, Hyderabad girls had it easy as well with three of them making their way into the semifinals of two events. Pranjala Yadlapalli defated Jennifer Luikham 6-2, 6-1 to enter the women’s singles last four stage while Sai Dedeepya and Humera Shaikh beat Tanisha Kashyap and Yamalapalli Sahaja 6-2, 6-3 and 7-6, 4-6, 7-5 respectively to advance to the girls Under 18 penultimate round.
