Mumbai: Andy Murray was confirmed as the new world no. 1 in men’s tennis, after Milos Raonic forfeited the semi-final of Paris Masters due to an injury.

The 29 year-old thus became the oldest first timer to reach the top ranking, after John Newcombe did it at the age of 30, in 1974.

The Briton will now face John Isner of USA in the final of the Paris Masters, on Sunday.
