Fenesta Open: Vishnu Vardhan in round 2
New Delhi: Davis Cupper Vishnu Vardhan whipped Sivadeep Kosaraju 6-0, 6-3 in the men’s singles first round of the Fenesta Open national tennis championships here on Tuesday.
The top seed played solid tennis to dismantle his opponent with minimum fuss.
Second seed Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash also sailed through to the second round as he outplayed Abhinashu Borthaku 6-4, 6-3 while V.M. Ranjeet — seeded fourth — cruised to an easy 6-3, 6-2 win over Rishi Reddy.
In the Under-18 boys section, B.R. Nikshep had an easy first set (6-0) against Ashutosh Tiwari but had to fight hard to win the second 7-6 (7).
Nitin Kumar Sinha, who blanked Divesh Gahlot 6-0, 6-0, also moved into the next round. Dhruv Sunish, seeded second, joined Nikshep and Nitin in the second round by edging past Raghav Jaisinghani 6-1, 6-2.
In the Under-18 girls category, top seed Vaidehi Chaudhri beat Pratibha Prasad 6-0, 6-2, while second seed Shaik Humera crushed Smriti Singh’s challenge in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
