Hyderabad: Shuttler Sai Nachiketh Bhatraju won back-to-back titles by winning the Turkish Junior International, coming from last week’s All England Open Junior title.
In the final, the third seed defeated top seed M. Toremis of Turkey with a 21-11, 23-21 scoreline. Earlier in the semifinal, Nachiketh beat Amer Mohammed of Saudi Arabia 21-13, 21-19. Before that, he had got past A. Ahmadloo of Iran 21-18, 21-23, 21-9 in the quarterfinal.
Nachiketh trains at Chetan Anand Badminton Academy (CABA), Hyderabad, under the guidance of former World No. 10 and Arjuna Awardee Chetan Anand.
“It’s not easy to win back-to-back international tournaments. I am very happy he maintained his concentration, composure and also managed the mental as well as physical stress over the last two weeks. I am proud of him for winning back-to-back titles... this is just the beginning,” Chetan stated.
