SATG Holds Strategic Meet For Khelo India Youth Games

Hyderabad: With the State gearing up to host the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), the Sports Authority of Telangana Government (SATG) has initiated a series of strategic consultations with state sports associations to strengthen athlete preparation and enhance the state’s medal prospects.
The meetings, chaired by SATG Vice-Chairperson & Managing Director Dr A. Sonibala Devi, IFS, kickstarted with representatives from the athletics, cycling, archery, gymnastics, badminton, mallakhamb, gatka, kaliyaripattu associations to formulate a comprehensive roadmap for identifying and training Telangana’s most promising athletes.
The discussions focused on finalising a structured three-phase preparation programme comprising selection trials, the first level camp and the core camp. Officials reviewed the timelines, duration of each phase and the sport-specific infrastructure, equipment and coaching support required to ensure athletes receive quality training well ahead of the Games.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sonibala said SATG is committed to identifying talented young athletes and providing them with systematic training so they can perform at their highest potential while representing Telangana on home soil.
The consultations form part of SATG’s broader strategy to develop a sport-wise preparation framework based on medal potential. SATG is conducting these meetings in phases to assess disciplines where Telangana has the strongest chances of success and to tailor coaching, training camps and support systems accordingly.
Further consultations with other state sports associations will be held in the coming weeks as preparations for the Khelo India Youth Games gather pace.
Among those present at the meeting were SATG Deputy Directors Ravinder, Srinivas, Ashok, Suresh Kaleru Telangana Olympic Association Secretary Mallareddy, representatives including Praveen, and office-bearers and secretaries of the respective state sports associations.
