A cricket academy in Dubai promoted by team India ODI skipper Rohit Sharma has shut its doors within an year of launch leaving staff and parents agitated.

CricKingdom by Rohit Sharma unveiled in September 2024 has shut down operations on May 2025, citing financial mismanagement, according to media reports.

The academy was run by "Grasport Sports Academy", who later collaborated with Rohit Sharma. Hitman’s stature attracted nearly 35 families, promising elite coaching and star association.

Reports claimed that cracks started to appear as soon as April with training sessions becoming irregular. On a May 28 morning, parents shockingly received messages stating the academy would close and refunds would be issued.
However, according to a report by Khaleej Times, a local media house, many families remain unpaid.
Moreover, several coaches, who were associated with the academy have last drawn salaries in December 2024 and are fighting for the arrears. Assistant coach Tiran Sandun Wijesuriya revealed he could not even pay rent after being unpaid since May.

While CricKingdom reportedly plans to relaunch under its own management by September 2025, some registered formal complaints with Dubai authorities. Experts have warned against joining academies purely by endorsements.

Rohit Sharma is yet to issue an official statement on the issue.
