This Sunday, the Indian women's cricket squad celebrated its victory in the ICC Women's ODI World Cup Final, a historic moment for South Asians across the globe - even for fans of India's rival teams.

In a heartwarming display, Pakistani cricket fan Arshad Muhammad Hanif took to Instagram to congratulate the women in blue, along with his two little daughters, sporting green jerseys and singing the Indian national anthem. In the caption, he wrote, "A proud moment as Sunidhi Chauhan sings the Indian National Anthem before the India vs South Africa Women’s ODI World Cup Final! Goosebumps all around. Let’s cheer loud for our women in blue — bring the cup home.”
The video has gone viral, garnering over 600 thousand likes and other interactions. Since then, Hanif has also posted videos celebrating the win by cutting a cake with his family and offering a piece to Captain Harmanpreet Kaur through his television screen.
In another video, he expressed hope that all young Pakistani girls will grow up to be as accomplished as the renowned skipper:
“Many congratulations to Team India on becoming the Women’s ODI World Cup Champions! Sending best wishes and love from Pakistan. I hope one day young Pakistani girls will rise and become champions like Harmanpreet Kaur!”

In honour of the team's landmark triumph, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that it would be rewarding the players, support staff, and selectors with a grand sum of Rs. 51 crores in an official statement.
“To honour this unprecedented success, the BCCI has announced a cash reward of Rs 51 crore for the players, support staff and selection committee, in recognition of their remarkable performance, dedication and contribution to the nation’s sporting glory.”
