India won the bronze medal at the inaugural Fireball Extreme Challenge World Cup held at the EFA Bella Italia Resort in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy. Team India, representing the mountain city of Manali, made an extraordinary debut on the world stage to
make their mark amidst countries such as USA, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Uganda and Canada.
Fireball is a co-ed team sport competition that promotes gender equality and inclusion, requiring teams of seven players include at least three female players.
It is unique and challenging, as once players enter the court, they have run throughout the match — cannot walk or stop. They cannot hold on to the ball for more than two seconds and the number of passes completed translate to points.
Competing in their first-ever international FXC tournament, Team India not only topped their group but also outscored traditional powerhouses such as Italy, Spain, Catalunya and — most notably — the United States. The Indian team —
comprising young athletes who were introduced to Fireball Extreme Challenge barely six months ago — became one of the breakout stories of the tournament.
