Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s pride and trailblazing cricketer Rasanara Parwin on Friday announced her retirement from professional cricket, drawing the curtains on a remarkable journey that etched her name in the state’s sporting history.
Rasanara created history by becoming the first woman from Odisha to break into the Indian squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, a milestone that brought immense pride to the state.
A right-arm off-break bowler, she made her international debut in the 2013 Women’s Cricket World Cup against the West Indies. She was also part of India’s victorious squad in the 2012 Asia Cup, a moment she describes as one of the most cherished highlights of her career.
In her brief but significant international stint, Rasanara represented India in one One-Day International (ODI) and two T20 Internationals, wearing the national jersey with determination and passion.
