Kiraak Hyderabad Pick Crucial Win in Pro Panja

NEW DELHI: There was a paradigm shift in the points table after the end of action on Monday in Pro Panja League at the IGI Stadium, with Kochi KD's climbing to the top with 98 points. Kiraak Hyderabad and Kochi KD's manage to script wins over Baroda Badshahs and Ludhiana Lions, respectively, on the night, as the action-packed armwrestling bouts continued to thrill the audience.

The action kicked off with Muzahid Shaikh and MD Hashim giving Baroda Badshahs a 2-1 lead in the undercard. In the main card, Kiraak's Asker Ali faced off against Sachin Goyal from Baroda Badshahs in the 80kg bout. Ali used tremendous power to pin down 'Bicep King' Sachin in a match that saw plenty of drama with review calls. Asker won the bout with a cleansweep and earned 5 points for Kiraak.

Next up, Hyderabad's Siddharth Malakar returned to challenge Baroda's Ranjith K in 90kg bout. Brimming with confidence, Siddharth activated the Challenger Round and confirmed 10 points along with the win for his side. Finally, Kiraak's Stewe Thomas stunned Baroda's Muzahid with a flash pin in mere 0.27 seconds, creating Pro Panja League record, and taking Hyderabad to a dominant 21-2 victory.

In the second match of the night, Tajinder Kaur Walia and Mohan Sharma gave Ludhiana Lions a 2-1 lead over Kochi KD's. Mazahir Saidu made an easy work of Biswajit Doley in the 100+kg main card bout to script Kochi's comeback, earning 5 points for his side with a cleansweep.

Next up, Ludhiana's Shivanshu Kaushik took on Suraj Salhotra in the 70kg bout. It was a chess game between the two and after a topsy-turvy battle, Suraj used his experience to attain a mental edge over his opponent and won the bout with a cleansweep. The last match of the night saw Kochi's Yogesh Chaudhary activating the challenge round straightaway and picking a confident 10-0 win over Ludhiana's Kusum Goswami to help her team to a 21-2 win.

Rohtak Rowdies will take on Mumbai Muscle, and Kochi KD's will face off against Baroda Badshahs on 8th August, 2023, Tuesday.
