Nitesh, Mehar, Dheeraj Tops; Krishna, Niranjan, Also Do Well in League Games

Hyderabad: Jyothi Krishna’s explosive century headlined the day’s action as Postal registered a commanding seven-wicket victory over Gouds XI, while Mahmood cruised to a nine-wicket win against Rakesh XI in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s ‘B’ Division One-Day League-cum-knockout Tournament on Wednesday.

Krishna produced the standout batting performance, smashing 117 with 19 fours and four sixes as Postal chased down Gouds XI’s 210/8 in just 23.1 overs. Md Shakeer provided excellent support with 62, powering Postal to 211/3 in a dominant run chase. Gouds Xi had earlier posted 210/8 in 41.5 overs, with Rishi top-scoring with 57, while Jyoti Krishna claimed 3/24 in the bowling effort.

In the other encounter, N. Nitesh Naik delivered a clinical bowling performance, taking 5/12 in five overs, including three maidens, to bowl Rakesh XI out for 76 in 19.3 overs. Arush Ainchwar also made a significant contribution with 4/21. Mahmood completed a comfortable nine-wicket victory, reaching 80/1 in 15.1 overs.

The ‘C’ Division league featured a century apiece from Niranjan J. and Sunny Kumar Bhagat, alongside outstanding bowling performances from Sri Charan Yadav, JLN Mehar Prasad and P. Dheeraj Reddy.

The three matches produced contrasting contests, ranging from a high-scoring encounter to two low-scoring affairs dominated by the bowlers.

Lucky XI secured a commanding victory over Vijaypuri Willowmen after posting 324/8 in 50 overs. Niranjan anchored the innings with an unbeaten 106 off 119 balls, striking 11 fours and three sixes, while Shreyan Reddy contributed 69 and N. Thrikaran scored 51. Vijaypuri Willowmen responded with an extraordinary effort from Sunny Kumar Bhagat, who remained unbeaten on 112 off just 71 balls, hitting 22 fours.

However, Sri Charan Yadav’s impressive 6/54 helped bowl the Vijaypuri Willowmen out for a modest 209 in 25.2 overs.

Bowling performances dominated the other two fixtures. Mehar Prasad returned exceptional figures of 6/11 in eight overs, including four maidens, to dismiss Yadav Dairy for 87 in 31.3 overs. Sunshine completed the chase at 90/2 in 16.5 overs, with A. Anirudh Goud unbeaten on 37.

In the third match, Dheeraj claimed 5/15 in seven overs to help Secunderabad Gymkhana bowl out Ranga Reddy District for 70 in 19.3 overs. Gymkhana then edged to a two-wicket victory, reaching 71/8 in 21 overs despite a tense chase.

EMCC claimed a walkover against UBI, whose full team was not present at the ground.
