National Sports Day Celebrated
Telangana Sports Authority felicitated prominent sportspersons from the State

HYDERABAD: The National Sports Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, was celebrated across Telangana on Saturday under the aegis of the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG).
Various sports and related activities were organised at all 33 district headquarters and at prominent sports venues in Hyderabad including Gachibowli Stadium, Lal Bahadur Stadium, Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium, Saroornagar Indoor Stadium, Cycling Velodrome and the Gymkhana Grounds.
At the Gachibowli Hockey Stadium, Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari paid floral tributes to Major Dhyan Chand at his statue. SATG chairman K. Shivasena Reddy, VC & MD Dr A. Sonibala Devi, Arjuna awardee badminton players Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly, Asian athlete Nandini Agasara, along with sports officials, athletes and coaches, participated in the extensive programme.
On the occasion, SATG felicitated Nandini, Gayatri and Treesa for their achievements and contribution to sports.

Sundays on Cycle Edition today
As part of the National Sports Day celebrations, the ‘Sundays on Cycling — Special Edition’ programme will be organised on Sunday at all 33 district headquarters and at various stadiums under the Sports Authority of Telangana in Hyderabad.
Officials are making arrangements to ensure the participation of a large number of sports persons, youth and members of the public.
The programme aims to promote interest in sports among the public, encourage healthy lifestyles and create greater awareness about physical fitness and the importance of regular physical activity.
