Kohli Lauds India's Edgbaston Win, Sachin Says He Enjoyed 'Jonty' Siraj's Catch

India's triumph not only levelled the five-match series 1-1 but also marked their first-ever Test win at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Birmingham: Following India's record-breaking 336-run victory over England at Edgbaston, legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and ICC Chairman Jay Shah were among the many to shower praises on the 'Men in Blue' for their clinical performance.

India's triumph not only levelled the five-match series 1-1 but also marked their first-ever Test win at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The emphatic nature of the win drew widespread acclaim, particularly for skipper Shubman Gill, who scored 269 and 161 in the two innings to lead from the front, and Akash Deep, whose 10-wicket match haul was instrumental in dismantling England's batting.
Tendulkar, in a post on his official X handle, applauded Gill's heroics.
"A Shublime innings from the man of the moment! Congratulations, @ShubmanGill, on powering India to a brilliant Test victory!"
He also acknowledged the efforts of other key contributors.
"@Rishabh Pant17, @kirahul, and @imjadeja batted very well, especially in the 2nd innings. India's approach was to take England out of this game and force them to play differently, making sure that there would only be one winner."
Tendulkar reserved special praise for Akash Deep, who claimed 4/88 and 6/99, breaking Chetan Sharma's record for the best match figures by an Indian in England.
"What impressed me most about the bowlers was the length they bowled. Needless to say, Akash Deep was the standout bowler, and in my opinion, he bowled the ball of the series to Joe Root."
He also lauded Mohammed Siraj for his athleticism.
"P.S.: Enjoyed the catch taken by Mohammad "Jonty" Siraj."
Jay Shah also posted on his official X handle,
"An outstanding Test match showcasing the depth and resilience of Indian cricket"
He praised both Gill and Akash Deep for their match-winning contributions,
"@ShubmanGill's 269 & 161 were innings of rare quality. while Akashdeep's 10-wicket haul marked a breakthrough performance."
Shah also acknowledged the supporting acts that helped shape the win,
"Valuable contributions from @imjadeja and @Rishabh Pant17 added to a well-earned team win."
"With the momentum firmly in India's favour and the series now alive," Shah added, "Looking forward to the next contest at Lord's."
In his first X post on cricket after Test retirement, Virat Kohli, wrote, "Great victory for India at Edgbaston. Fearless and kept pushing England to the wall."
He praised Gill's leadership while acknowledging clinical performances, "Brilliantly led by Shubhman with the bat and in the field and impactful performances from everyone. Special mention to Siraj and Akash for the way they bowled on this pitch."
👏🇮🇳 The victory at Edgbaston will go down as one of India's finest overseas Test performances, one that blended youthful brilliance with tactical mastery, and set the stage for an electrifying showdown at the Home of Cricket.
