Asian Games: Satnam-Salman Win Bronze, Roshibina Silver

Satnam and Salman clocked 6:13.25 at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course. China's Yi Xudi and Yide Nie won gold

Nagoya: Indian rowers Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won the bronze medal in the men's double sculls event at the Asian Games here on Thursday, while star Wushu athlete Roshibina Devi secured a silver in the women's 60kg sanda category.

Satnam and Salman clocked 6:13.25 at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course. China's Yi Xudi and Yide Nie won gold with 6:09.37, while Uzbekistan's Pavel Sorin and Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov took silver in 6:10.49.

The Indian pair remained second until the 1,500m mark before slipping to third in the final 500m. Satnam had previously won a bronze at the Hangzhou Asian Games in the men's quadruple sculls event.

Earlier, India narrowly missed another rowing medal as Balraj Panwar finished fourth in the men's single sculls final with a timing of 6:54.80.

In Wushu, Roshibina lost the women's 60kg sanda final 0-2 to China's Zhang Xiaoyu but secured her third Asian Games medal. She had won bronze at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games and silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Games.

Roshibina reached the final after defeating Vietnam's 2023 world champion Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy. Her medal came after controversy over her selection for the Indian squad following an injury to young rival Divyanshi Choudhary.

Other Indian Wushu athletes could not reach the podium, with Aryan losing in the men's 56kg quarterfinals, Aparna exiting in the women's 52kg round of 16 and Vikrant Baliyan losing his opening-round bout.
