Colombo: Dhruv Jurel struck an unbeaten 115 as India declared their first innings at 503 for 9 before reducing Sri Lanka to eight for two on the second day of the second Test here Monday. The hosts trail by 495 runs.
Opener Lahiru Udara (1) and Prabath Jayasuriya (2) were dismissed by Prasidh Krishna and Manav Suthar.
Kamil Mishara (5 not out) was at the crease at the end of second day's play.
Earlier, Jurel underlined his credentials as a specialist Test batter with a 177-ball 115 not out, his second hundred, studded with nine fours and two sixes.
India were 475 for 8 when umpires took early tea due to heavy downpour.
In the post lunch session, India lost the wickets of Rishabh Pant (63) and Manav Suthar (18). Pant and Jurel had added 112 invaluable runs for the seventh wicket.
