Telangana writes to Centre for coaches

It may be noted that Aruna Reddy recently got bronze at the World Cup in Melbourne (Australia) to become the first Indian woman to win a medal.

Hyderabad: Telangana sports minister T. Padma Rao Goud and Sports Authority of Telangana State chairman Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy have requested Union sports minister Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to assist gymnasts Budda Aruna Reddy and Gundlapally Meghana Reddy who will represent India at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

“It is learnt that the two Telangana gymnasts, who are medal prospects, will be at the Commonwealth Games without their coaches. We request you to use your good offices to persuade the Indian Olympic Association to arrange for accreditation to Meghana’s coach Varavara Filiou (from Greece) and a coach to be named for Aruna by the competent authorities,” the letter read.

It may be noted that Aruna Reddy recently got bronze at the World Cup in Melbourne (Australia) to become the first Indian woman to win a medal at the gymnastics World Cup, the letter stated.
