KOZHIKODE: Calicut University is set to host a number of sports events in the next two months including two inter university championships and a state meet. Calicut University CH Muhammed Koya Stadium will host the Kerala State School Athletics meet from December 3-6. The University will also host the South Zone Inter University Women’s Basketball championship from December 10-14 and the South Zone Inter University Women’s Volleyball championship from December 24-29. Ahead of the state school athletic meet, the varsity will also host the Inter-collegiate football championship in the renovated football stadium and the football ground in the stadium.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Calicut University Physical Education department director Dr Sakeer Hussian said that arrangements were progressing for the smooth conduct of various championships and meets. “We have already constructed two changing rooms and two bathrooms near the synthetic track and 70 percent of the renovation work of the gallery has been completed,” he said. The renovation of the football ground is also progressingso that two grounds including the ground in the athletic stadium can host the matches.
