P T Usha to boycott visual media

Her decision comes in the wake of allegations that she did not stand up for P U Chithra.

Thiruvananthapuram: Sprint legend P T Usha on Thursday said she would not entertain journalists from Malayalam visual media from now on. Her decision comes in the wake of allegations that she did not stand up for P U Chithra who was left out of the Indian squad for the World Championships.

“For an ordinary Malayali woman like me the erosion of values, character assassination crossing all boundaries, baseless reports and discussions on the visual media amount to harassment of women. This kind of intolerable visual media harassment is unbearable for a woman like me who experiences sorrow and happiness even in little things. I want to spend the rest of my life in peace and happiness with my elderly mother, husband, brother, sisters and my only son.”

“Therefore I, P.T. Usha, in protest against the intolerable visual media harassment, have decided not to cooperate with the visual media. I want to convey this to all well meaning friends in Malayalam media fraternity. Please forgive me. I too want to live.”
