MRF Challenge: Schumacher junior is fastest on first day
New Delhi: Mick Schumacher went fastest in Free Practice 2 to go ahead of Harrison Newey in Round 3 of the MRF Challenge 2016 at the Buddh International Circuit near here on Friday.
He was quicker than Newey and a returning Ralf Aron in FP 2. In the opening session, Newey had beaten Schumacher and championship leader Joey Mawson.
It was Felipe Drugovich who was the first to set a competitive time with 20 minutes remaining on the clock with a 1:54.345s. Newey then began a string of fastest laps and with five minutes to go, he clocked a 1:52.340s.
Schumacher gradually picked up pace as the session went on and put in a time of 1:52.630s to slot into second ahead of Mawson and Drugovich. FP 2 saw the top drivers who were wasting no time in getting up to speed and Mawson was one of the front runners who was impressive as he clocked 1:53.883s.
