Hyderabad: Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) coach Brij Kishore has been handed a cash award of Rs 25 lakh by the Telangana State government for the performance of his ward Budda Aruna Reddy who became the first Indian gymnast to win a World Cup medal last month in Melbourne.
Sports Minister T. Padma Rao Goud, Sports Secretary Burra Venkatesham (IAS), SATS Chairman Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy and SATS Vice-Chairman & Managing Director A. Dinakar Babu (IAS) handed over a cheque on behalf of the State to Brij Kishore at the Basavatarakam Indo American Hospital where he is battling cancer.
The Minister wished Brij Kishore a speedy recovery from his sickness.
SATS had earlier extended financial assistance of Rs 7 lakh (Rs 2 lakh and Rs 5 lakh on separate occasions) to the ailing coach towards medical expenses.
