Golden club in bronze age, suspended

Footballers manhandle referees, rivals; side thrown out of TFA league.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Football Association (TFA) has suspended Hyderabad Golden Soccer Football Club from the ongoing ‘C’ Division league owing to violent behaviour of its players on and off the field.

“The ‘C’ Division tournament committee has decided to take disciplinary action against Hyderabad Golden Soccer Football Club as they have been continuously manhandling referees and opposition players,” a statement released by TFA on Wednesday read.

“It has been found that the players resorted to violence in the match against Young Sporting, played on April 20 at the Goshamahal ground. They misbehaved again, in their game against Secunderabad Blues on April 23 at the Gymkhana ground. Even after the match got over and the players had changed into their regular clothes they went ahead and beat up the referees. When players of the rival team tried to pacify them, they manhandled them as well,” TFA secretary G. P. Palguna said.

“Based on the match commissioner’s report, the tournament committee has unanimously decided to suspend the club from playing further matches,” Palguna added.

The TFA is also preparing to lodge a police complaint against those responsible for indulging in and/ or encouraging violence, including coaches and managers.
