Dutee Chand wants Kangana Ranaut to be the lead actress for her biopic

The 23-year-old sprinter was the first athlete in India to openly discuss about her sexual orientation.

Mumbai: Sports personality based films always turn out to be huge crowd pullers. Dangal, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mary Kom, MS Dhoni- The Untold story generated a huge bulk of revenues at the box office. Recently, Dutee grabbed the headlines after she revealed that she is a lesbian, and she’s engaged in a same-sex relationship with her friend.

The 23-year-old sprinter was the first athlete in India to openly discuss about her sexual orientation after her sister threatened her of cutting ties with her and throwing her out of the family, if Dutee didn’t halt her relationship.

After the 100m record holder and winner of two Asian Games silver medals revealed that she is in a same-sex relationship, people from various roots of the world including Ellen DeGeneres lauded her for being bold and brave. Dutee has even disclosed that Anil Kapoor and filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had asked her consent.

However, Dutee hasn’t given her consent yet, but she nevertheless, revealed the lead actor whom she thinks would be able to portray her perfectly. In an interview with the Times of India, Dutee stated, “I think Priyanka Chopra did a very good job in Mary Kom. While I don’t know who will eventually be selected, I think Kangana Ranaut can portray me perfectly on screen, I like her as an actress.”

In an interview with India.com, Kangana was asked how she would feel playing Dutee Chand’s character, the Krishh 3 actress stated, “That’s very kind of Duteeji. I am humbled that she feels I am worthy of playing her.” Earlier, Dutee Chand in an interview with the Indian Express had stated, "I have found someone who is my soulmate.

I believe everyone should have the freedom to be with whoever they decide they want to be with. I have always supported the rights of those who want to be in a same-sex relationship. It is an individual person’s choice." Dutee got the courage to reveal about her relationship after the Supreme Court decriminalised Section 377.

Dutee further added, "I have always believed that everyone should have the freedom to love. There is no greater emotion than love and it should not be denied. The Supreme Court of India has also struck down the old law.

I believe nobody has the right to judge me as an athlete because of my decision to be with who I want. It is a personal decision, which should be respected. I will continue to strive to win medals for India at international meets."
