Vinod Kumar & Co win Pro-Am prize
Hyderabad: Curtains officially went up on the second edition of the Golconda Masters Golf Championship with the Pro-Am event which was played on the greens at the Hyderabad Golf Club in the city on Wednesday.
Delhi-based professional Vinod Kumar and his team won the event which saw a mixture of professionals and amateurs tee off for top honours.
The event was played in the Texas Scramble format in which each team’s best ball is chosen on every shot.
Vinod’s team — comprising amateurs Sanath Malreddy, Krishna Guduru and Ajay Reddy T. — were crowned winners with a score of 52.3 points.
Bengaluru-based professional C. Muniyappa and his team, which included Ritesh Daga, Venkat Ravilla and Rakesh Vadlamudi, were second on 53.1 points.
The prize for the Longest Drive, on the fifth hole, went to K. Sanjay, whose drive spanned a distance of 270 yards. A. Bhaskar bagged the Closest to the Pin title on Hole No.7, after his ball landed within 3 feet 4 inches of the pin. Ashok Reddy fired the Straightest Drive on Hole No.10 wherein his ball deviated only four inches from the centre of the fairway.
