Sports Minister's challenge goes viral
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and recently appointed Minister of State for (I&B), Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, is doing all he can to make India physically fit. As part of the #HumFitTohIndiaFit campaign, the Olympic medalist posted a video on twitter encouraging Indians to adopt a fitter lifestyle, on Tuesday. The legendary India shooter challenged cricketer Virat Kohli, actor Hrithik Roshan and badminton player Saina Nehwal to join in. “Post pictures and videos of how you keep yourself fit and send a #FitnessChallenge to your friends on social media. Here’s my video ??and I challenge @iHrithik, @imVkohli & @NSaina to join in (sic),” he posted on Twitter.
In response to this tweet, Saina posted a video of herself lifting the weights, and captioned the video, “Thank u so much @Ra_THORe sir for challenging me ??..#HumFitTohIndiaFit.
Here's my video (sic).” She further invited RanRana Daggubati, PV Sindhu and Gautam Gambhir to join the challenge.
Actor Hrithik Roshan too posted a video of himself cycling and captioned it, “This initiative makes me so proud ! Bravo @Ra_THORe #HumFitTohIndiaFit #FitnessChallenge this is how I commute to my office everyday. sitting static in a car is such a waste. Walk, cycle, jog, feel the earth, feel India get FIT (sic).”
What is more interesting is that the response from common people too has been overwhelming. In fact, the tweet has already been retweeted around 8000 times. Many users have uploaded their videos of exercising or doing yoga on Twitter.
And Rathore has acknowledged many of the tweets, personally appreciating their effort.
Earlier this year, Rathore had overseen the formation and launch of the Khelo India School Games, an initiative which encourages mass participation and excellence in sports among youngsters, from which the brightest 1,000 athletes will receive scholarships worth Rs 5 lakh each per year for a period of eight years.
