Hyderabad: Vivo Pro Kabaddi’s season 7 kicked off with a bang at the Gachibowli Stadium here as U Mumba beat Telugu Titans 30-25. Abhishek Singh’s excellent raid performance with 10 points and Fazel Attrachali’s strong defence performance laid the foundations of U Mumba’s victory. U Mumba’s defence put in a strong defensive performance to contain Titans’ star raider Siddharth Desai throughout the match.
Rohit Balliyan made an excellent two-point raid in the 10th minute to give U Mumba 8-5 lead. In the 13th minute, U Mumba inflicted the first all out of the match to lead 12-6. Telugu Titans were reeling under pressure as U Mumba’s defence tightened their grip on the match. At the end of the first half U Mumba led 17-10 and were looking comfortable.
Bulls edge Pirates
Defending champions Bengaluru Bulls showed a lot of mental strength as they staged a comeback to beat Patna Pirates 34-32 in their opening encounter.
The defensive duo of Amit Sheoran (5 points) and Ashish Sangwan(4 points) were the chief architects of Bulls’ victory. Bulls’ high flier raider Pawan Sehrawat chipped in with 9 points.
For Pirates, Pardeep Narwal got a super 10.
