Former basketball coach Begary Ginny Edwards passes away

He was 86 and left behind his wife and two daughters.

Hyderabad: Tragedy continued to hit Hyderabad sports circles with the demise of Begary Ginny Edwards, former basketball coach and referee, whose body was laid to rest on Sunday.

He was 86 and left behind his wife and two daughters. A towering figure given his 6-foot-plus height, B.G. Edwards also officiated in numerous national basketball championships finals as also the 1981 Asian Championships in then Calcutta. He was also part of the 1998 and 1996 Olympic Games at Seoul and Atlanta respectively as a volunteer. The retired physical director of Osmania University also served at Nizam College and Saifabad Science College.

Sports scribe Sreenivas no more Senior sports correspondent of Saakshi TV channel Jannu Sreenivasulu (better known as Jessy and Chitti), passed away in Hyderabad on Sunday following a massive heart attack. He was 55 and left behind his wife, two sons and a daughter. Sports bodies, journalists associations and officials in the state condoled his demise.
