2 skaters from Visakhapatnam aim for gold medals in international events

Pratham, Priyam gear up for Malaysian, Abu Dhabi championships.

Visakhapatnam: Pratham Tated and Priyam Tated, who have won many medals in national and international events, will participate in the Malaysian National Championship and the Golden Cup in Abu Dhabi with high hopes of bagging a gold medal. The 13-year-old twins and ardent skaters are the synonym for skating in Vizag. They have won 66 and 54 medals each in skating so far. They aim to win more gold medals in the upcoming events.

Pratham won 15 national level medals and one bronze medal in the international event while Priyam has clinched 19 medals in the national level and four in world meets. “We started skating at the age of 3-years. We used to watch the practice session of our elder sister Divya Tatet and loved the sport a lot. We won medals at the age of 5 years Our sister is a motivation for us and we are adept at roller, artistic and fire figure ice-skating,” says Pratham and Priyam, Class VIII students of Timpany School in Vizag city.

Priyam wants to bring laurels to the country by clinching medals in prestigious international events. He also plans to start his own skating academy in Vizag to produce more skaters.Pratham wants to become a pilot. “Practising skating for hours and trying to excel in academics is a balance of time managements. We thank our coaches P. Satyam and K. Chittibabu and our father Mahendra Tated for their guidance. We are confident that Vizag skaters will create history in the sport,” they added.
