Harshita Tomar of Madhya Pradesh continues to lead the fleet unabated with a few bad races but still with a significant lead to bag the gold in the Open category of the Sub-junior Telangana Regatta being held at the Hussainsagar lake in Hyderabad. Chitresh Thata of Tamil Nadu faced a few challenges but is headed for silver unless there is a dramatic change of fortunes at the last three races.
Harshita is in any case certain of Gold in the girls fleet. She survived a close disqualification in four races as the race committee protested her sail and her positions of three wins was reinstated. In the State fleet, Durga Prasad of Udhbava High School is headed for gold with a 10-point lead over Juhi Desai of DPS.
Juhi Desai, sister of Tanishq Desai who won the Telangana Junior Championship, is headed for silver and it will make a brother sister pair to hit metal in the Telangana State Regatta. Overall, it was a day of mixed fortunes for most of the sailors except for Harsihta and Chitresh. Four races were sailed in the morning session in mixed conditions with low winds of 6 knots to highs of 18 knots and the course was a true test of sailing skills.
