Jenson Button's an engineer
After recently retiring from his Formula One duties, Jenson Button picked up an honorary degree in Engineering from the University of Bath. And the Englishman picked up his degree in style, arriving at the ceremony in his Porsche 911.
The 36-year-old from Frome, in Somerset, was pictured getting out of his Porsche, as well as receiving his degree and mortarboard. At the ceremony, Button said: “I didn't go to university and work hard in my early years, but I would say that a lot of my achievements in motorsport are down to my engineering understanding of a racing car.” He said he had chosen automobile engineering for the sole reason that he could be near cars all the time.
Button was awarded his degree by HRH Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, who is the Chancellor of the University of Bath. Button's Formula One farewell ended in heartbreak at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix back on November 27 as the ex-McLaren driver was forced to retire early from the season finale.
