Toronto: The WWE Summer Slam lived up to its name, dishing out plenty of high pitch rocking and a lot of rolling to send a packed Scotiabank Arena into raptures on an entertaining Sunday night. With six titles at stake, there was loads of action on the card with Seth Rollins beating Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship in a thrilling main event.

The two went hammer and tongs, jamming each other into corners, flipping and launching spectacular kicks before a Seth slam left Lesnar locked on the floor, unable to beat the count.

The Raw Women’s Championship match was the next best on show, in which the popular Becky Lynch nailed Natalya for the belt after a see-saw battle. Both started strong, locking heads before tumbling out of the ring to resume the brawl. Action continued with plucky Becky shoulder charging Natalya into the steel steps by the ring to have the crowd on their feet. She kept the pressure on to eventually pin her rival.

Spectators at the Arena lapped up every bit of the flying knees, dropkicks, tough tackles and painful locks and roared in delight as the performers launched springboard attacks and dragged opponents out of the ring by their arms.

The Smackdown Women’s Championship match was engaging as well with Bayley bringing high-flying Ember Moon down to earth, hanging her upside down in the process to bring the house down.

Trish Stratus and Kevin Owens provided the Canadian connection. While Trish was forced to tap the mat in surrender after being taunted, troubled and locked by the taller Charlotte Flair, Kevin restored the hosts’ pride in his match against Shane McMohan.

In other title rounds, Kofi Kingston took the WWE Championship after rapping Randy Orton in a double count-out; Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross retained the Women’s Tag Team (doubles) championship by beating former title holders Peyton Royce and Billie Kay who comprise The Iiconics; and Drew Gulak got the better of Oney Lorcan to retain the Cruiserweight Championship belt.
