Mumbai: Dipa Karmakar is set to return the BMW, which was presented to her as a gift from Sachin Tendulkar.
Karmakar, who rose to fame after becoming the first Indian female gymnast to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics, was felicitated by some state governments across, after her return from Brazil, earlier this year.
She also went on to mesmerise the international gymnastics fan by her death-defying display of the Produnova vault.
In a felicitation by the Telangana government, a BMW car was gifted to Dipa. The car itself was presented by none other than Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
However, the star gymnast is set to return the car to its owners. Dipa’s family believe that it would be difficult for her to maintain such an expensive car, according to a report in news portal One India.
Also, the fact that her hometown Agartala does not have good enough roads for such cars, has also added to Dipa in taking such a decision.
