Karnataka Olympic Association honours athletes in award ceremony
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Olympic Association’s annual awards ceremony was a glittering affair at ‘Yavanika’, State Youth Centre, here on Thursday. A total of 10 outstanding sports persons chosen by a jury, three former India stars, a sports medicine expert and a media representative were presented with a memento and a cheque by Vajubhai Vala, governor of Karnataka.
The sportspersons were presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh while the others were given a cheque for Rs 25,000 each. “I congratulate all the 15 sports personalities for being chosen for this prestigious KOA Award. Let me also compliment the KOA for giving this award for the past 15 years. It has set an example for many other state associations to emulate,” said Vala. “The KOA will be celebrating 60 years in 2018 since its formation way back in 1958. We have carried forward their legacy,” said K. Govindaraj, President of KOA.
