Shiva Keshavan finally gets sponsorship
Gurgaon: In a big boost to his preparations for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea, luger Shiva Keshavan found the support of Micromax Informatics Ltd., it was announced here on Wednesday.
Keshavan, a five-time Olympian, was forced to pull out of the Luge World Championships in Germany and the Luge World Cup circuit recently due to lack of funds.
The luger also had to let go his association with American coach Duncan Kennedy, a former technical director of the United States team and a winner of 21 world titles, for the same reason. Keshavan was relieved to have finally got a sponsor and said, “I am also speaking to a couple of companies who are keen to sponsor me. Things should be finalised in a couple of weeks.” He however was awaiting a positive response from the government, who has so far paid no heed to his problems.
