HCA top division league matches: Quick gun Kartikeya Kak rips rivals apart

Kartikeya Kak scalped five wickets.

Hyderabad: Kartikeya Kak scalped five wickets to emerge the only performer in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s top division league matches played on Friday. The Jai Hanuman mediumpacer took 5/58 to put brakes on Deccan Chronicle, who, resuming at their overnight score of 147 for 4, were all out for 242. Kartikeya returned fine figures of 23.3-8-58-5. Varun Goud’s 94 helped Chronicle reach the modest score.

In the second innings Jai Hanuman batters made 139 for 3 as the match was drawn. They grabbed three points to Deccan Chronicle’s one. In the other match, SBI rode on the Anirudh Singh’s 120 but unfortunately there was no support to his heroics as they were bowled out for 235 after resuming the day at a strong 190 for 2. Anirudh’s 120 came off 241 balls and contained 16 boundaries and three sixes. Amol Shinde, A. Ashish Reddy and C. Hitesh Yadav picked three wickets each for Andhra Bank.

Following on, SBI then scored 132 for 7 as the match ended in a draw. Andhra Bank took 3 points leaving the bankmen with nothing.

Andhra Bank 600 in 116.2 overs drew with State Bank of India 235 in 98.5 overs (Anirudh Singh 120 — 241b, 16x4, 3x6, Amol Shinde 3/53, A. Ashish Reddy 3/15, C Hitesh Yadav 3/39) & follow on 132/7 in 53 overs (Anirudh Singh 39, C Hitesh Yadav 3/56). Points: Andhra Bank - 3, SBI - 0.

The Hyderabad Cricket Association will conduct schools/ inter-college tournament for women from the last week of July-August. The HCA will provide all infrastructure support including lunch on all match days and practice facilities will be provided free of cost at the Gymkhana Grounds in Secunderabad on turf wickets. Classes for umpires

The Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Umpires clinic and the Umpires classes for the 2017-18 season will commence from Monday. Those interested in umpiring at the HCA league matches/ tournaments can contact K. Kusha Prakash, Umpires Faculty.
