In the junior women’s category, Alena Reji set a new national record to win her and the country’s second medal in the 500m time trial event, clocking 37.439s surpassing her own mark of 37.8s.
China’s Chao Yue Shen won gold, clocking 35.291s while South Korea’s Seolhwa Jeong claimed silver in 36.35s. But the day was eventful on another level when three cyclists suffered injuries, one of them suffering a collarbone fracture, in a mid-race crash.
