AP police to organise All India Chess tourney

More than 300 chess grand masters, international masters and Fide masters will take part in the tournament

ANANTAPUR: The AP Police and the All Anantapur Chess Association would jointly organise a national-level chess tournament styled as All India Fide Rapid Rating Chess Tournament -2021, on November 12 and 13 here. The venues would be the temporary AP police academy and the Anantapur police training centre.

Anantapur range DIG Kanti Rana Tata released a brochure for the event here on Thursday. The Andhra chess association will also back the tournament. DGP Gowtham Sawang took the initiative for making AP police a part of the event. Additional DGP Sanjay would lead the tourney.

More than 300 chess grand masters, international masters and Fide masters will take part in the tournament. The organisers announced cash prizes for a total of Rs 2 lakh in which 85 cash prizes, 55 trophies and 40 medals will be presented to the winners. The winner in each category would get Rs 33,000 and the runner-up Rs 20,000. Entry fee will be Rs 1000 per player. The players can enroll their names on www.apchess.org

The All Anantapur Chess Association honorary chairman Balaraju, president Shivakumar and tournament director Udaykumar were present.
