Bengaluru: Riding on Naveen MG’s (144) ton and a fine all-round show from Shreyas Gopal (82 & 3/32), Swastic Union Cricket Club (2) grabbed first innings points in their drawn encounter against Jawahar Sports Club (1) in the KSCA Group I – I Division cricket league for Mirza Ismail Shield.
Batting first, Swastic Union raced to 428 for 9. Naveen’s 154-ball century was studded with 19 hits to the fence and five sixes. Siddharth KV (33), Akshay Kodoth (45) and Jonathan R (32) came up with some useful contributions. Leg-spinner Shreyas BMtook three wickets while pacer Nandakishore and left-arm spinner Suresh H Karani share two wickets each.
In reply to the huge total, Jawahar were bowled out for a mere 141. Dheeraj showed some resistance top-scoring 39 while part-time spinner Samarth R bagged three wickets while leg-spinner Sinan Abdul Khader claimed two to give their side three crucial points.
