Youth Inter-District Basketball Tournament: Hyderabad are champions
Hitting the right chord and executing the game plan well, Hyderabad girls and boys basketball teams dished out splendid performances to win the 2nd Youth Inter-District Basketball Tournament for boys and girls that was organised by the M.G.M International School and I.B. (Yousufguda) at the Kotla Vijaya Bhasker Reddy Stadium in Yousufguda. In the finals, Hyderabad girls were in the top gear since the first whistle and they put Karimnagar on the backfoot in the first half of the match which ended 29-13 in Hyderabad’s favour.
The second half saw some fightback from Karimnagar as they kept the scorer busy. However, Hyderabad were in no mood to relax and went out all guns blazing at Karimnagar to finish the task. Hyderabad took the match away from them with a 13-point difference. The final scores read 57-44. Aarya and Lassya were the top performers for the winners as they kept the scoreboard ticking. Meanwhile, Sandhya was the best performer for the Karimnagar side.
Earlier in the semifinals, Hyderabad blew Nizamabad away with a 32-4 score while Karimnagar dominated Mahbubnagar in the other semifinal 39-26. In the match for the third place, Nizamabad had the upper-hand over Mahbubnagar and won 26-22. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad boys team were no less, though they didn’t have an easy outing in the finals against Ranga Reddy. Hyderabad toiled hard as both the teams were involved in a neck to neck encounter in the first half and were not ready to give an inch to each other.
However, Hyderabad boys fought back hard to take the first half with the score reading 46-34. In the second half of the match, Hyderabad made their intentions clear about their seriousness for the Cup and came back hard at their opponents to clinch the match and Trophy with a dominant 61-42 score. Hyderabad’s T. Anan and Rithik played crucial roles in their team’s win while Shoaib Khan and Sudershan played well for Ranga Reddy.
Earlier in the semifinals, Hyderabad defeated Warangal with all ease. The final verdict read 52-22 in Hyderabad’s favour. In the second semifinal, Ranga Reddy charged out hard at Karimnagar to set them aside with a 40-14 scoreline. Warangal settled for third place in the tournament as they finished their campaign in style, with a 60-46 win over Karimnagar.

Girls final: Hyderabad bt Karimnagar 57-44 (29-13).
Semifinals: Hyderabad bt Nizamabad 32-04; Karimnagar bt Mahbubnagar 39-26.
Third place: Nizamabad bt Mahboobnagar 26-22.
Boys final: Hyderabad bt Ranga Reddy 61-42 (46-34).
Semifinals: Hyderabad bt Warangal 52-22; Ranga Reddy bt Karimnagar 40-14.
Third place: Warangal bt Karimnagar 60-46.
