65th Senior National Kabaddi Cship: Semis berths for mighty Maharashtra, Karnataka
Hyderabad: Karnataka and Maharashtra men sailed into the semifinals of the 65th Senior National Kabaddi Championship being held at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad.
In Thursday’s quarterfinals, Karnataka defeated Uttarkhand while Maharashtra went past Uttar Pradesh.
In the first quaterfinal, Karnataka came out all guns blazing and were unstoppable. They rode on brilliant performances from Nitish and Prashant Roy to quickly gain control of the match. By half-time, they pulled 33-14 ahead.
The good work continued even as N. Pradeep of Uttarkhand tried to put up a fight. The final scoreline read 51-31.
In the second quarterfinal, Maharashtra proved to be the superior side as they nailed Uttar Pradesh by a 44-36 verdict. In the women’s semifinals, Indian Railways will take on Punjab while Haryana will clash with Himachal Pradesh for a place in the final.
