Karthikeya's cuts bleed Karnataka
Hyderabad: Young fast bowler Karthikeya Kak claimed 15 wickets in the match as Hyderabad Under 23, after conceding the first innings lead, came right back into the game to defeat Karnataka by 136 runs on the fourth day of their Col. C. K. Nayudu Trophy league match played at the Gymkhana ground here on Monday.
Karthikeya followed up his brilliant first innings figures of 8 for 64 with 7 for 54 in the second essay to bundle Karnataka out for 175 and get full six points for Hyderabad.
Opening the home attack, Karthikeya was all fire right from the word go. He accounted for opener Sujith N. Gowda, one-down batsman S. J. Nikin Jose and No.4 K. L. Shrijith in quick succession as Karnataka slipped to 61 for 3.
Karthikeya kept the pressure up and did not allow the visitors any room to get away as he continued to bowl a menacing line. The effort fetched him four more wickets and scripted an outright win for Hyderabad. Karthikeya’s final figures in the second innings read 20.5-6-54-7. His match figures, a highly impressive 45.3-15-118-15!
