Speaking on the occasion, Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel said “the mounted police of the country is an integral part of the Force in maintaining law and order.”
As many as 18 teams comprising 460 riders along with their 290 mounts are taking part in these championships that cover 31 events such as dressage, show jumping, tent pegging and hacks, and conclude on January 10.
The meet serves to hone the skills of riders and helps in bringing together competitors from different states and central para military organisations and provides a testing ground for riders and horses of the mounted police. The event has two facets: Concentrating on equestrian police sports amongst policemen of mounted police units of the country and facilitating improvement of skills of the mounted duties of the policemen.
