St Andrews girls bag bronze in CBSE’s basketball tourney

As many as 36 teams had participated in both boys and girls under-19 categories, matches in which were played on knockout basis.

Hyderabad: St Andrews school secured the bronze medal at the Cluster VII Basketball tournament held at Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan in Tuni, Vishakhapatnam.

As many as 36 teams had participated in both boys and girls under-19 categories, matches in which were played on knockout basis.

 

Nidhi shone for Andrews in the Under 19 semifinal with 10 points to her credit, as the team put up a tough fight against P. Obul Reddy School but lost with an 18-35 scoreline.

The losing semifinalists are declared joint third place finishers at the Cluster meet.

Earlier in the quarterfinals, Nidhi (8) and Shrishti (6) of Andrews put out brilliant performances scoring from under the basket against Nalanda School to take their team forward.

In the boys category, St Andrews lost to Chirec Public School in the quarterfinals.

Girls U-19 semifinal: St. Andrews 18 (Nidhi 10) lost to P. Obul Reddy School 35. Quarterfinals: St Andrews School 16 (Nidhi 8, Shrishti 6) bt Nalanda School (Vijayawada) 2.
