New Delhi: India international S.V. Sunil’s opportunistic brace guided defending champions Jaypee Punjab Warriors to a 7-0 victory over Ranchi Rays in their Hockey India League-5 match in Ranchi on Wednesday. It was Punjab’s maiden win in Ranchi since the tournament’s inception in 2013.
Dutch defender Mink van der Weerden put Punjab ahead off a penalty corner in the 25th minute, followed by Sunil’s first field goal of the night seconds later to put them on course for their first win this season.
