Here are some interesting T20I records to know ahead of the World Cup

Hyderabad: After an interesting season of IPL that has ended on Sunday, cricket fans move on to the T20 World Cup, set to begin from June 2.

For the first time, the T20 World Cup will feature 20 teams including the USA, Canada and others. The tournament will be co-hosted by the West Indies and USA.
Some Indian players including Captain Rohit Shrama, Rishab Pant, Jadeja have flown to the US and started practicing, while other members of the squad will join soon.
As the fans shift their focus onto the T20 World Cup, let's look at some records in T20 internationals:
Highest team total:
The highest runs scored in an innings by a team in T20 international will shock many fans. Its not one of the big teams but a small nation had done the feat in 2023 by scoring a massive 314 runs against Mongolia. Nepal holds this record. In test playing nations, team India has the highest score with 260, they scored it against Sri Lanka.
Most sixes in a match:
A T20 international match between South Africa and West Indies recorded the highest number of sixers i.e 35, the match was played in 2023 in Centurion.
Most fours in a match:
Two matches jointly hold this record. India vs Australia in Guwahati in 2023 and Japan vs Singapore in Bangkok in 2024 saw a record 49 fours.
Most runs by a player:
Team India star batter Virat Kohli holds the record for scoring the most runs in international T20s. He has scored 4,037 runs in 117 matches. Babar Azam and Rohit Sharma are next in the list.
Most runs in a calendar year:
Pakistan star batter Mohammad Rizwan has scored a wooping 1,326 runs in 29 matches played in a calendar year. Suryakumar Yadav is second in the list with 1,164 runs.
Highest score by a player:
Australia former captain Aaron Finch has scored a mammoth 172 runs against Zimbabwe in 2018 which is the highest individual score in T20 internationals. He also holds the record for the most runs scored by a captain in an innings.
Fastest hundred in T20 World Cup:
Chris Gayle has scored a century in 47 balls in the 2016 World Cup match against England, Which is still a record for the fastest century in a T20 World Cup match.
Player without a duck in career:
West Indies former player MN Samuels holds this unique record, he had played 65 innings without scoring a duck.
Most sixes by a player:
Team India star batter Rohit Sharma has hit 190 sixers in 143 innings which is most by any player. Martin Guptil is next in line with 173 sixers.
Most wickets:
New Zealand's pacer Tim Southee had picked up 157 wickets in his career and he is at the top followed by Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan with 146 wickets.
