Transfer Deadline Day: Arsenal receive 2nd bid for Alexis Sanchez

While Neymar's record-breaking €222m move took all the headlines, a number of big money moves are still on the cards.

Manchester City have made yet another bid for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, bumping up their previous offer by £5m.

Sanchez has been linked with a move away from the Emirates all summer, but the Gunners are understandably are unwilling to let their Chilean star go.

Pep Guardiola, who had previously worked with Sanchez at FC Barcelona, reportedly wants to sign the 28-year-old, and is even said to have sent a club representative to Chile, where Sanchez is currently training with his national side, in case an agreement with Arsenal can be reached on time.

While City’s previous offer of £50m was rejected by the Gunners, the Sky Blues have now bumped their offer up to £55m, with an additional £5m in add-ons for Sanchez, according to ESPN.

However, there is a high possibility of the deal not falling through, as Arsenal are said to be willing to let Sanchez go, only if they can manage to sign another attacking player.

They have been linked with a €100m (£92.3m) move for Thomas Lemar of Monaco. However, the Gunners seem to have run out of time for that deal, according to The Guardian.

Even if an agreement can be reached with Monaco, the player is unlikely to be available to talk personal terms, as he is currently with the French nationa team squad for their match against the Netherlands, tonight.
