Fifa World Cup: Real Madrid stars Casemiro and Marcelo join Brazil side
London: Real Madrid team mates Marcelo and Casemiro have arrived at Tottenham’s training center to complete Brazil’s 23-men World Cup squad.
The left back and midfielder missed the first week of training in Teresopolis, outside Rio de Janeiro, and the first two days of practice in London because they were helping Madrid win the Champions League.
With the late additions, Brazil coach Tite has his complete squad for the first time. Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino arrived on Monday, joining the squad earlier than expected and was rewarded by coach Tite with a place up front alongside Neymar in training on Tuesday.
The Liverpool striker, expected to vie for a spot with Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, lined up with Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar and Chelsea’s Willian in an open session at Tottenham’s training center.
“Liverpool is nearby so I decided to rush here,” Firmino jokingly told the Brazilian football confederation’s website.
“I came by train. I had two more days to stay at home but I decided to come early and start now.”
He had been excused until Wednesday after playing in the Champions League final against Real Madrid on Saturday.
Brazil will stay in London for training until June 8. The team will then travel to Vienna to play their last pre-World Cup friendly against Austria.
